Paul M. Fick, Ph.D.
Dr. Paul Fick is a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist, Educational Consultant and co-founder of Adolescent Alternatives.
Dr. Paul treats a vast array of adolescent problems through a compassionate yet direct approach. In 2004, Dr. Paul and his wife, Dr. Ashley Fick, co-founded South County Psychotherapy in Laguna Niguel, CA where 200 new adolescents and their families obtain psychological care each year.
Dr. Paul is also the former Clinical and Administrative Director of West County Counseling Center in Huntington Beach, CA where he supervised the treatment of more than 3,000 adolescents in two large school districts. Dr. Paul has personally trained and supervised more than 250 doctoral and masters level students.
Dr. Paul also conducts psychological assessments using psychological testing and clinical interviewing which culminates in a comprehensive report providing a clear picture of an adolescent’s emotional, cognitive, and educational strengths and weaknesses.
Dr. Paul is committed to helping parents find the most suitable treatment modality and placement options for their struggling teens. He is an associate member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA).
Ashley D. Fick, Psy.D.
Dr. Ashley Fick is a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Educational Consultant and co-founder of Adolescent Alternatives. She is also the co-founder of South County Psychotherapy in Laguna Niguel, CA, a large outpatient clinic providing comprehensive psychological services for adolescents and their families.
Dr. Ashley began her work with struggling teens and their families in 1993. She began her clinical career working with “at risk” teens in alternative educational settings. Since 1995, Dr. Ashley has provided psychological counseling and has conducted forensic evaluations for teens entangled in the legal system.
After years of working with this struggling population, Dr. Ashley has a unique ability to identify the needs of severely troubled youth, providing necessary intervention, and recommending appropriate placement when necessary. She is an expert at teaching parents of troubled teens the skills necessary to get back in control of their home.
Dr. Ashley and Dr. Paul travel extensively around the country visiting placement sites to bring you first-hand knowledge of recommended programs. Dr. Ashley is also an associate member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA).
